Many people prefer Mottaret to the busier Meribel, as it gives more ski in/out accommodation and is so well connected for the skiing. The atmosphere is more intimate and low key. This is an excellent choice for families and for keen skiers and provides good value in the 3 Valleys
There are 80km of piste in Motteret, another 80km of piste in Meribel, with about 600km of pistes in the Three Valleys as a whole. Skiing from Motteret generally runs from the first week in December until the last week of April.
Mottaret is built in village style with wooden chalet style buildings and has its own shops etc. Nightlife is lively, but laid back and lower key , than Meribel.
Mottaret is a good option for families, dedicated skiers and those on a budget.
Mottaret is 3kms up the valley from Meribel centre, with a free ski bus which runs from 9/10 am to almost midnight, so a trip down to the attractions of Meribel is not a problem.

Value ski in ski out apartments with direct access to the pistes, with a small selection of shops and restaurants nearby. the apartments have a communal lounge with log fire and bar with regular live music There are 238 value apartments, ranging from apartments, sleeping 8 with 2 bedrooms + mezzanine, bathroom and shower room, to studios for 2/3 people.
The apartments are clustered around the central lounge with its welcoming log fire and bar. This is open every day from 9am to 1am.
The apartments are directly by the piste. There is a supermarket, ski hire shop and cafes nearby.
3) Praline 5 star apartments sleeping from 2 to 8, newly renovated, 5**** apartments - attractively decorated, spacious and tastefully furnished.
Set in a superb position in Meribel Mottaret - ski -in ski out onto the mottaret slopes, and very close to the ski lifts and shops.
There is an attractive communal area with pool table and children's corner (see photos below)

By car: : Autoroute A 43 until Albertville, RN 90 to Moutiers, then D 90 to Méribel Mottaret. Once in Meribel, follow the signs to Motteret -just above Méribel . Keep right at the entrance to Motteret following signs to Laitelet. Le Hameau is in the highest part of the resort.
