Why come to Lets Gets in the summer ?
Lets Gets is a pretty mountain village resort in the Portes du Soleil, convenient for Geneva airport and the French autoroutes and the with lots of activities for all ages:
Les Gets, nestles in a wide sunny mountain pass ; the flower be-decked chalets complement the stunning scenery. Les Gets is a friendly and welcoming place to holiday with a host of well tended and resourced activites for all ages.
Mountain bike - downhill or cross country. There are serious rides for the dedicated including a permanent World Cup downhill but also pleasant rides through the mountains for those who like to mosy along.
The leisure area in Les Gets has its centre on a shoulder of land just above the village . This is easily accessible from the village centre - 10 minutes walk, served by Le Petit Train and by the shuttle bus and with plenty of parking. Our Gibannaz apartments and chalets Ruisseau and Duc de Savoie are 3 to 5 minutes walk away.
Picnic on the grassy surrounds of the beautiful "blue flag" swimming lake (with water temperatures in the 20's), complete with childrens water toboggan slide built into the hillside and diving platform in the centre of the lake . Lifeguards on duty in the high season.and swimming lessons and other childrens "animations" are organised, usually in the late afternoons and centred on the lake and on the mutisports court and sandy beach volley ball court.
Alternatively, have a refreshing drink or lunch at the restaurant overlooking the lake.
This is the starting point for the woodland "Aventure Parc" with day and half day couses for 8+ year olds to adults. The pony club is housed in the woods beside the lake .
The"deval karts" track starts close by. "Deval Karts" are down hill go-carts (no engines) for all ages, you are gently pulled up the hillside and then free wheel down the trackl to the village.
In the village there are bouncy castles, elastic fly and trampolines as well as a merry-go-round.
Then play golf on the course which is skied over in the winter and tee off with Mont Blanc in the background.
And do you fancy a tandem paraglide off the top of Mont Chery?
Or visit the Mechanical Music Museum ( one of our recent guests said this would not be out of place in Paris or Brussels !) isit during the annual mechanical music week carnial, when the streets are filled with traditional barrel organs. Check dates with the Les Gets Tourist Office
Visit nearby Morzine with its summer toboggan run, open air swimming pool and horse drawn sleighs.
Go up to Les Linderets and the "goat village" and see the lake at Montriond formed by a landslide.
Then there is Samoens with its markets, noted as one of the best preseved small towns in France. Then go on to the "via ferrara", the mountain course at Cirque du Fer à Cheval . This is a mountain cirque or semicircle with walls 500 to 700 m high, and summits that reach 3,000 m. The second largest mountain Cirque in France, the Cirque du Fer à Cheval provides magnificent views all year round: there are lots of waterfalls when the snow melts. It is one of the 25 listed famous sites in France, like Gavarnie, the Pointe du Raz, the Gard bridge or Mont Saint-Michel. The high walls make the site a paradise for hikers.
Try white water rafting on the Giffre river or wake boarding on Lake Geneva.
Or how about a trip to Annecy just an hour away, with its lake with all sorts of pleasure craft from pedalos and rowing boats, to water skiing to evening dinner and dance cruises, Don't forget the famous old town of Annecy.
Or there is Chamonix, about 40 minutes away, one of the original turn of the last century climbing and ski towns with the famous cable car up the Aigle du Midi ( book your trip at the Les Gets tourist Office first if you don't want to queue for hours).
Visit the elegant old resort village of St Gervais les Bains, and take the red rack and pinion railway up to the glacier - the "Mer du Glace" - take some warm clothes!!
A trip to Geneva, its lake and lakeside towns that vary from the large and elegant Thonon and Evian to medieval village of Yoire and the Swiss towns of Montreaux are also a must
